a cornucopia of trivialities

Some days, I feel like a great big no-job havin' garden slug.

"So I'm with this girl last night, and we're pretty hot and heavy, and then she says she just wants to cuddle. Dude, do I look like I want to cuddle?!?"

"Dude, you're a total loser! You need to do like me - these chicks really dig the migrant worker stripper look I've got going on."

What a glorious display of modern inter-racial wildlife dating.

Sniff... Sniff... Something stinks! Did I remember my deodorant this morning?

just a little bit

makeover

Having a fab time here in sunny South Florida. Here for a week to babysit for my niece & nephew while their parents are cruising Barbados.

I got a pedicure and a haircut (obviously not my face, but my actual hair).

Then, I had an appointment at Nicole Salon,

(the owner)

where for just $1 I had my hair washed and styled, a manicure, and my face painted.

Unfortunately, I don't know what brand of face paint my aesthetician used, but it didn't come with removal instructions! So I was left with a face full of fuscia lines!!!!

I only had to wash my face about 1000 times, and the lines just disappeared like magic :)

welcome bikers

Today marks the beginning of Bike Week 2006. I know this not because of the increased number of motorcycles that I'm now sharing the roads with, and not because of the Harley Momma's in Publix and Target in their leather chaps, but because of the ubiquitous "Welcome Bikers" signs that appear all over town.

Which got me wondering...

During Race Week, they hang "Welcome Race Fans" signs...

and during Bike Week, they hang "Welcome Bikers" signs...

What signs will they hang during Black College Reunion Weekend?

???

i claim this bridge in the name of all couch potatoes

Perhaps I didn't set my goal high enough...
Perhaps I underestimated my stamina...
Perhaps I exaggerated how hard it would be...

Because yesterday, I walked over the Seabreeze Bridge! And I didn't stop there, oh no! I walked TO the beach, and DOWN the beach...

and UNDER the pier, and DOWN the beach some more (just over 5 miles in total). It took me a little more than 2 hours - once I hit the beach, I slowed down quite a bit to enjoy myself :)

It was a beautiful day - almost 80° with a nice breeze. As I stood in the ice-cold water, I realized something:

I NEED A PEDICURE.

Not as much as I need a job, but still.

On the south side of the pier, I was able to walk to a sand bar without getting my shorts (or cel phone or camera) wet.

It was very cool - and very cold - to be out that far and only up to my ankles in water.

And now, this morning, I read in the news paper that there were more right whales in Daytona Beach. And I missed them :(
